A couple nights ago I went out to shoot some pictures with help from emerging photographers Baptiste Enard (bottom pic) and Thomas Brandenburg (top pic). These shots were taken where Bridgeport and Chinatown meet, on Chicago’s south side.
Not to be confused with the vibraband player who shares his name, this Stan Wood is the one you may remember as someone who doesn’t do reality, but does play in the band onYou. I shot this picture a couple weeks ago at the bacherlorette party of a good friend of ours.
I’ve been having a good time shooting portraits for Luxe magazine’s “Style Makers” section–I shot one a couple weeks ago, and the portrait above appeared in the Spring 2010 edition. These assignments are a treat for me; the section runs black and white photos, which I love to shoot, and the subjects have been fascinating people in interesting spaces. The Renaissance man pictured is architect, painter, sculptor, writer, critic, and poet Christian K. Narkiewicz-Laine.
Their credo is violence…their god is hate. They call themselves Magic Milk. I shot the duo live a few weeks ago, and again in studio last weekend.
Kennedy Greenrod performed with The Thin Man at the Burning Whale benefit last Friday night, held at Bridgeport Chicago’s Co-Prosperity Sphere.
Here’s a picture of the sensational masked rock ensemble The Goblins, not to be confused with Italian prog-rockers Goblin, the California metal band Goblin Cock, or the Serbian punk outfit Goblini. Somebody needs to start a Wikipedia page on these guys.
Yesterday’s Village Voice profiles aberrant musician Weasel Walter, who just moved from Oakland, California to Brooklyn (where he’s got three gigs this month). I took this photo for the Reader in 2002, back when he was a Chicagoan. I wish more people I photographed wore antennae…
Shot at The Crotch (Chicago’s intersection of North, Damen, and Milwaukee Avenues) on July 1, 2009.
Here are a proof sheet scans (these are not final images) of a couple recent Widelux pictures I took on Milwaukee Avenue.
